Philippine eagle na si ‘Mangayon,’ patay sa tama ng bala sa Davao de Oro

Namatay dahil sa tama ng bala ng baril nitong Miyerkules sa Compostela Valley, Davao de Oro ang lalaking Philippine eagle na si 'Mangayon.'

Sa isang pahayag nitong Huwebes, sinabi ng Philippine Eagle Foundation , na pumanaw si “Mangayon” dulot ng pagkaubos ng dugo dahil sa tinamong tama ng bala ng baril sa kaliwang pakpak. May mataas na posibilidad din ng sepsis bunga ng kaniyang sugat na tinamo.

Ayon sa PEF, si Mangayon ang ika-apat na biktima ng pamamaril ngayong 2024. Ang ibang agila ay sina “Lipadas” sa Mt. Apo, “Kalatungan” sa Bukidnon, at “Nariha Kabugao” sa Apayao. Sa website, inihayag ng PEF na ang Philippine eagle “is considered to be one of the largest and most powerful among forest raptors. They are also listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature with an estimated number of only 400 pairs left in the wild.”
