The PCG stated that CCG-3304 was operating in a disputed area and asserted its presence within China's maritime jurisdiction, disregarding the 2016 Arbitral Award that favored the Philippines. The BRP Teresa Magbanua, a Philippine Coast Guard vessel, asserted the Chinese vessel's lack of legal authority and its violation of Philippine maritime laws and international agreements.
