Auxiliary commander and actor Gerald Anderson received the ‘Search and Rescue Medal’ for his rescue effortsActor Gerald Anderson has been recognized by the Philippine Coast Guard for his heroic efforts during Super Typhoon Carina, where he extended help to numerous victims.
At a ceremony held at the National Headquarters of the Philippine Coast Guard in Manila on Aug. 8, Anderson received the “Search and Rescue Medal.” PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan commended the actor’s selfless actions. Anderson, also an auxiliary commander of the PCG, rescued several residents in Barangay Santo Domingo, Quezon City, who were trapped due to massive flooding caused by the typhoon’s relentless rain.
PCG Spokesperson Rear Admiral Armando Balilo highlighted Anderson’s active role in humanitarian and disaster response operations, noting his ongoing aid to Aetas in Zambales, recovering families in Marawi, and his donations of medical supplies and tents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Balilo also mentioned Anderson’s contribution of school supplies to children on Pag-Asa Island, alongside Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto and other PCGA members.
Senator Robin Padilla praised Anderson as an inspiration to fellow Filipinos, embodying the true essence of a Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary member.
