Amid the rising dengue and leptospirosis cases this rainy season, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation has reminded its members that it covers hospital treatment for these two diseases.PhilHealth’s dengue fever benefit package is currently at P13,000, while its dengue hemorrhagic benefit package stands at P16,000. Meanwhile, those who were infected with leptospirosis may avail a benefit package worth P14,300.
Since the year started up to September 6, a total of 208,965 dengue cases were recorded—higher by 68% compared to the same period last year with 124,157 cases.There were also 546 deaths reported so far in 2024 due to dengue.As to leptospirosis, DOH said that a total of 123 cases were reported nationwide from August 18-31. The DOH has observed a rise in leptospirosis cases after the onslaught of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat in July.
