A total of 165 families in Daraga and Guinobatan, Albay who lost their homes due to lahar flooding were given new homes by the Philippine Red Cross .PRC has recently handed the displaced families their certificate of occupancy for their new homes.
The PRC said the relocation site in Bubulusan, Guinobatan is assessed to be safe, compared to the locations of the beneficiaries’ homes before the onslaught of the super typhoon.Each family was also given the first tranche of P10,000 cash assistance to help them rehabilitate their livelihoods, the humanitarian organization said.
To make this housing project possible, the PRC also partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Canadian Red Cross, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, British Embassy, Thai Red Cross, Spanish Red Cross, Singapore Red Cross, and online donors.
