The Philippine Navy (PN) has readied its disaster response and rescue teams (DRRTs) for possible deployment as typhoon

Commodore Caesar Bemard Valencia, commander of Naval Forces Northern Luzon , said the naval DRRTs were told to prepare as early as last week to respond to any eventuality in its areas of responsibility — Ilocos , Cagayan Valley , and Central Luzon .

Among the essential assets of NFNL DRRTs are M35 and KM450 trucks, three rubber boats with outboard motors, generators, cutting tools, and life-saving equipment. Local government units in Ambo’s path were told to conduct preemptive evacuation to mitigate the impact of the typhoon. However, the COVID-19 pandemic poses a big threat to families in evacuation centers.

At 4 a.m. Saturday, the eye of typhoon Ambo was located in Mt. Sto. Tomas in Tuba, Benguet, according to a report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
