PH 'leveled up' in SEA Games — POC

Levelled up.

That was how Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino described the Team Philippine performance in the recently-concluded 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.'In total, it was really a strong performance for Team Philippines, especially reclaiming the gold of basketball. In spite of many problems, 40+ of those silvers are subjective sports,' said Tolentino in the Philippine Sportswriters Association online forum on Tuesday, May 23.

The Philippines harvested 58 gold medals -- its highest gold haul since the 1987 Jakarta Games where the Filipinos notched 59.On top of that, Team Philippines claimed 85 silvers and 117 bronzes for a total of 260 medals and finished fifth in the Games. The country might have dropped a notch lower from its fourth place finish in the Hanoi Games last year but it certainly won more medals in Phnom Penh.
