Now that the local hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) is over, ranking members of the House of Representatives have come out to give due praise to the organizers of the biennial sports event.
“I think the organizers led by [House] Speaker [Alan Peter] Cayetano did a good job in hosting the SEA Games,” Deputy Speaker and Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel said.
Another Deputy Speaker, Camarines Sur 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte, said the Philippines’s total medal haul of 387, including 149 golds, proved that the country “can be the best in sports and be fully capable of hosting world-class sports competitions.” As part of the long-term plan to develop Filipino Olympics and SEAG champions, Villafuerte called on his fellow lawmakers to approve his legislative proposals on creating a national sports academy in the country.
