The Philippines is bidding to host the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships. | ManilaBulletin READ:

PNVF President Tats Suzara wants to bring world-class volleyball action here when the country bids for the hosting rights of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championships.

“We are strong contenders, especially judging how the fans turnout on our hosting of the Volleyball Nations League,” said Suzara, referring to the Week 3 leg being held at the Mall of Asia Arena that is on its last day Sunday. Suzara said he will fly to Poland next week to attend the first meeting with officials from four other nations which are also bidding: Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Indonesia.The last time the country competed in the world championships was in 1974 held in Mexico where the Filipina spikers wound up 18Should the Philippines get the hosting rights, the country will have a chance to field a team as host.

“This will be significant not only to volleyball fans, but also to our national players as well. Once everything is clear, we will try to assemble the best team possible as early as possible,” Suzara said. The next edition will have 32 teams from the previous 24 squads when Netherlands and Poland co-hosted it last year. Serbia clinched the gold medal, while Brazil and Italy settled for silver and bronze medals.
