Petro Gazz Angels secured their spot in the PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals after defeating the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in a decisive Game 3 on Tuesday, March 25th. The Angels triumphed in a dominant fashion, winning the match with scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-23 at the Phil Sports Arena in Pasig. This victory marks Petro Gazz 's entry into the semifinals alongside defending champion Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Akari.
The top two teams from the upcoming round-robin semifinals will then proceed to the best-of-three championship series.The match was closely contested, with the Thunderbelles briefly leading 22-21 in the third set. However, the veteran Petro Gazz squad rallied, outscoring ZUS Coffee 4-1 to seal the game and series. Chinnie Arroyo's attack error put Petro Gazz ahead 24-23, and Myla Pablo's block on rookie Thea Gagate secured the victory for the Angels. Petro Gazz's journey to the semifinals saw a dramatic comeback after losing the first game of the series in a straight-set upset. They bounced back to win the next two games convincingly. Chie Saet, the experienced playmaker for Petro Gazz, orchestrated the offense effectively, recording 20 excellent sets and contributing 5 points to lead her team to victory. While Arroyo led ZUS Coffee's offense with 13 points, and Gagate added 10, their commendable run in the tournament ultimately came to an end.
