UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System DALTA beat National University , 25-17, 25-18 and 33-31, to rule the inaugural Philippine University Volleyball League held recently at the Altas’ home court in Barangay Pamplona III in Las Pinas City.

Key Altas also bagged major individual awards—Most Valuable Player and Best Attacker Louie Ramirez, Best Liberos John Philip Pepito and JC Enarciso and Best Coach Sammy Acaylar. The tournament was a battle of league champions—the Tony Tamayo-owned Altas in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Bulldogs in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

“We have a solid team this year and our team played with a lot of guts and pride,” Acaylar said. “We didn’t want to lose on our home turf.” It was sweet revenge for the Altas whose only loss in the tournament in the eliminations was at the hands of the Bulldogs.
