Australian War Memorial Chair Dr Brendan Nelson says while “we don’t say it in so many words” Anzac Day gives people a chance to “recommit ourselves to one another”.
Mr Nelson said observance of Anzac Day hasn’t fallen away since the centenary of the Gallipoli landing.
“What’s happening is that Australians are looking for and finding meaning in what it means to be an Australian in the qualities and the values they see and are represented in the uniforms of the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army, and the Royal Australian Air Force,” Mr Nelson told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
