Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director-General Aaron Aquino said that while it is unlikely that Vice President Leni Robredo will reveal anything new about the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, she should not hold back if she has new information.Aquino made the statement after Robredo said she will reveal on Monday the “discoveries” she made about the government’s drug war during her short stint as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs .
“If there is, I urge her to open up. Hindi kailangan itago. Kung ‘yung discoveries na nakita niya , whether it’s good or bad for the administration, then go,” Aquino said. “Inaasahan natin na magagamit natin ito para maging lalo pang epektibo ang ating kampanya laban sa iligal na droga ,” he added. Aquino said that Robredo’s efforts did not go to waste as he ordered members of the ICAD to act on the Vice President’s recommendations if they thought they were appropriate.
“[Had] she met…the ICAD clusters, magiging mas malaki ang kanyang scope of knowledge kung ano ang drug situation ng Pilipinas ,” Aquino said. “Hindi ko rin ma-dictate ano ang dapat niyang gawin o hindi . So when she started meeting foreign groups, hindi ko rin siya mapigilan ,” he added.
