The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) recently provided livelihood opportunities to beneficiaries from the San Mateo Federation of Persons with Disability Inc. This initiative, supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Calabarzon, aims to empower PWDs and improve their economic well-being.
The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) successfully facilitated the formal distribution of livelihood opportunities to a select group of beneficiaries from the San Mateo Federation of Persons with Disability Inc. on January 14, 2025. This initiative provided beneficiaries with the chance to launch their own businesses and enhance their livelihoods, supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Calabarzon.
The event was spearheaded by Rosemarie Makimkim, the head of the PCUP Office of the Chairperson - Special Concerns Unit, focusing on Livelihood, and included PCUP Commissioner Andre Niccolo Tayag. Beneficiaries received sewing machines and other essential equipment to aid in the establishment and growth of their businesses.This program is a testament to the PCUP's persistent efforts to uplift the lives of communities with special needs and create avenues for improved livelihood prospects for individuals with disabilities (PWDs).
