The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced Thursday its support for a gradual approach to phasing out Philippine offshore gaming operators in the country.
While acknowledging the negative impacts of POGOs, the PCCI cautioned against sudden closures that could lead to massive job losses and disruptions across various sectors, including food services, transportation, and administrative support. “We also call on PAGCOR and other government agencies involved in regulating the POGO business including the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Immigration to carefully review the mandates from licenses, work licenses, and tax obligations of the POGO operators,” Mangio said.
