Amid the ongoing fleet expansion of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the addition of more maritime floating assets from other countries, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said he is confident that the country's maritime territories will remain secured.

In an interview with reporters after the 122nd Anniversary celebration of the PCG at the Port Area in Manila, the Chief Executive said the ongoing upgrading of equipment and training capabilities of PCG will allow it to better secure the country’s maritime borders. “We are continuing with the upgrading of the equipment, the training, and the capabilities of all our people, especially the Coast Guard not only because we are on the frontlines and the problems now we are facing in the WPS , but also because of the very important function they play when it comes to search and rescue, maritime incidents, even disaster assistance,” Marcos said.
