The government is considering the construction of high-rise buildings for public housing amid limited available land space for such projects.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. made the announcement during the initial turnover of house and lot units by the National Housing Authority in Naic, Cavite on Monday to qualified beneficiaries.

“Maybe we can go into a high rise instead. We are studying if this can be done on a case-to-case [basis],” Marcos said in Filipino. The President stressed the need to build public housing within his term of office to ensure all informal settlers will be sheltered during his term. Marcos attributed the shortage in local housing to the lack of initiative from the previous administrations.
