Terrafirma pulled off an upset against twice-to-beat San Miguel, 106-95, in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Dyip pulled away in the third and led by 11, 66-55, before ending the said frame at 82-73 in their advantage. The Beermen cut their deficit to within eight at the 3:18 mark of the fourth quarter before a triple and a layup from Juami Tiongson gave the Dyip a 13-point lead with 2:02 remaining.Free throws and a layup from CJ Perez gave San Miguel a glimmer of hope before Tiongson's free throws off a foul by Terrence Romeo sealed the deal for the Dyip.
Tiongson led the Dyip anew with 29 points, along with six rebounds and three assists, while Stephen Holt had 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Isaac Go, meanwhile, had 22 points as Terrafirma extended the series.The win spoiled June Mar Fajardo's 21-point, 16-board outing, while CJ Perez had 20 points. Jericho Cruz and Marcio Lassiter had 11 and 10 points, respectively.The decider will be played on Wednesday.
