PBA commissioner Willie Marcial says the players are willing to play in an NBA-style bubble or a hotel-to-venue semi-bubble.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the players have given their approval on the potential league adoption of a bubble if the Philippine Cup restarts in October.
"They really want a bubble," Marcial told Rappler in a mix of Filipino and English after a dialogue with players from all 12 member teams on Wednesday, September 16. In fact, Marcial said the team representatives did not want the closed-circuit setup, in which players stay at their own homes and travel only to their practice facilities and the game venue.Among the players Marcial met were Magnolia's Marc Pingris, San Miguel's Arwind Santos, TNT's Jayson Castro, and Rain or Shine's Beau Belga.
"Nobody asked me what will happen if a player does not want to play. That means they are all willing to play," Marcial said. Marcial said he will present the players' suggestions to the board of governors in their meeting on Thursday, September 17, as they look to finalize the plans for the season reboot.
