The Philippine Coast Guard reported that all 45 crew, including the ship captain, were successfully rescued after the vessel caught fire four hours after it left Pier 1 in Cebu City

Passenger vessel MV Filipinas-Dinagat caught fire off the coast of Catmon town in Cebu Province, the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed.

According to the PCG Region 7 report, the crew and its skipper Joel Villanueva were brought to Danao City port some 34 kilometers north of Cebu City after they were rescued off the coast of Catmon town in Cebu Province. The ship was not carrying passengers nor rolling cargoes. It was only loaded with assorted goods to be brought to Palompon.

Some of the crew members of the Cokaliong Shipping Lines vessel sustained some injuries and were given medical attention by the responding PCG personnel. Ambulances were also sent to the port.
