A barangay in Pasig City has taken extra measures to solve the problem of plastic waste.

Over 200 kilos of plastic waste were collected by Barangay San Antonio’s “Basura to Ayuda” program during its first anniversary on Oct. 31. The program, which was launched in October 2020, was created by BSA Chairman Raymond Lising in collaboration with the non-government organization Planeta Cares and collected over 250 kilos during their initial launch.“Napaka-gandang initiative ng Basura to Ayuda, sana ay ma-expand pa natin sa ibang mga barangay ng lungsod Pasig. Constituents are asked to collect either 500 grams of loose plastic in the form of plastic containers, bags, sachets, snack packs, plastic cups, lids, utensils, and bottles or 1.5L eco-bricks weighing 500 grams are accepted by the program.Planeta Cares then sends the collected plastic to three recycling entities: Sustainable Gardener PH, Cloop, and Sari-Cycle.
