THE Parañaque City government has allocated P500 million for educational tablets and allowances of public school students and teachers as schools adopt the Department of Education’s distance learning programs.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said P300 million would be allotted for public school students and teachers, while P200 million would be used to pay the P6,000-annual allowance of 16,000 junior and senior high school students. Around 7,000 tablets would be distributed to the city’s kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils, while 300 units of laptops would be given to public school teachers, he added.
“Instead of allocating the tablets to the high school students, the members of our local school board decided to issue the gadget to kinder and Grade 1 pupils. Today, computer will be a formative experience for a kid to learn the best in the world,” the mayor said. Olivares backed the DepEd’s plan to shift from the traditional face-to-face classes to blended learning because of the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.Tags
