URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan — The mayor of this eastern Pangasinan city is now in hot water for hitting a provincial cameraman, who was part of a team tasked to document the implementation of a preventive suspension order against the local chief executive on Monday.
Jairus Bien Sibayan, 28, was slapped by Mayor Julio 'Rammy' Parayno III, who was irked when Sibayan was video recording the preventive suspension order that was being served to Parayno in his office here at about 8:30 a.m.A spot report forwarded by Pangasinan police director Col. Jeff Fanged indicated that Parayno also forcibly took Sibayan's camera and removed its secure digital card.Policemen immediately pacified the mayor.
The provincial government team led by lawyer Ronn Dale Castillo left Parayno's office after the incident and reported it to the police station here.Sibayan was taken to the Urdaneta District Hospital for medical examination.The Manila Times tried but failed to get the side of Parayno.
