There are about two million Filipino workers in the Middle East, mostly in Saudi Arabia and UAE, sending millions of dollars in remittances every year. Many usually return home for the holidays.
It’s a time of family reunions and friends getting together and exchanging gifts and sharing food. Even foreigners are in awe about the Christmas sights and sounds in the Philippines. Albert, a senior communications manager, and his wife Malen, lost their jobs during the pandemic. She even contracted COVID-19 and recovered.
Julie Ann and Albert said they have plans to go back to the Philippines because he misses the Christmas spirit back home.
