CEBU CITY — Despite being born without limbs, 10-year-old Zach Lucas Obsioma from Negros Occidental, triumphed in the Palarong Pambansa, securing two gold medals for Western Visayas.
Obsioma, a student at Sped Training Center in Cadiz City, won both the 50-meter freestyle and 50-meter backstroke events for boys in the the below-the-knee category, happeneing at the Cebu City Sports Center. Before his competition last Thursday, Obsioma told The Manila Times that participating in the Palaro ng Pambansa was a crucial step toward his dream of representing the Philippines in the Paralympic Games.
Rabuya highlighted that Zach, a converted athlete from badminton, but had shown great potential in swimming and she believed he would win again this year.Obsioma began his swimming journey just a year ago and already clinched a gold medal at last year's Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City. His father, Dexter Obsioma, proudly spoke about his son's unwavering commitment to the sport.
