Malacañang said Chinese President Xi Jinping may be the one to raise the issue of Chinese-manned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) sites because it is China's problem and not the Philippines'.

Malacañang said Chinese President Xi Jinping may be the one to raise the issue of Chinese-manned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators sites because it is China’s problem and not the Philippines’.Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said POGOs are not the government’s problem since gambling is legal in the country.“Siguro ang magre-raise niyan baka si President Xi hindi tayo, kasi as far as we’re concerned, the online gaming operation is legal in this country.

“Kasi daw yung mga online gaming operations, ang talagang target yung mga Chinese nationals, at the same time baka daw nila nala-launder yung pera. Kaya very concerned sila dun ,” he added. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has raised concern over the presence of Chinese-manned POGOs near military bases, saying they can easily switch to spying activities.Panelo said that the government will expel them if they entered the country illegally.

“They cannot just enter here, if they enter illegally we will throw them out because we have immigration laws and we follow them strictly,” he said.“It is [a security concern] kung they come here illegally. Pero kung legally naman alam natin bakit sila andito, anong gagawin nila rito, momonitor natin ,” Panelo said.
