President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has certified as urgent the proposed measure postponing the BARMM polls, Malacañang on Wednesday confirmed.“This is confirmed,” Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez told reporters when asked about Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero’s disclosure on the measure.

On the other hand, the bill that was approved on third and final reading in the House of Representatives proposed to defer the polls to May 2026.According to Escudero, he has already discussed the certification of the bill as urgent with Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.Escudero said the Senate is eyeing to pass the bill on third reading next week.
