Philippine Airlines (PAL) will have its sweeper flight here to fetch Australian nationals who are stranded in the city due to the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Wednesday.

“Due to public demand, the Embassy of Australia in Manila, through Philippine Airlines, will now be offering Manila – Sydney flight on April 18, in addition to the earlier announced Manila – Melbourne flight,” the DOT said.

The DOT said all Australians, both permanent residents and visa holders must register directly with PAL through the form provided in its announcement online. “Australians stranded in Davao Region may avail of the sweeper flight mentioned which will include Davao-Manila flight on April 18, at 1:00 p.m.,”the statement said.

It stated that other nationals may avail of the sweeper flight provided they have secured an international flight going back to their home country within 24 hours upon arrival in Manila. It said all passengers with confirmed booking for the flight must secure a health certificate issued by the city or barangay health office or from the Incident Management Team for those who are coming from the provinces and municipalities outside this city.

Stranded tourists who want to avail of the flight but are staying outside the Davao Region must coordinate with the DOT regional office to assist them for boarder transfer.
