Pagcor, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., has announced a further reduction in fee rates for Electronic Games (e-Games) to 30 percent, effective January 1, 2025. This move aims to curb illegal gaming and encourage operators to join the legal market. The agency also reduced rates for e-Games in integrated resorts to 25 percent.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. ( Pagcor ) announced a further reduction in fee rates for Electronic Games (e-Games) from 35 percent to 30 percent, effective January 1, 2025. This move aims to combat illegal gaming operations and foster a more favorable environment for the legal e-Games sector.

Pagcor Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco explained that this reduction, coupled with a 25 percent rate for e-Games in integrated resorts, is intended to offset overhead expenses and encourage unregistered operators to transition to the legal market. \ Tengco emphasized that the lower share rates provide operators with additional resources for marketing and expansion, preventing closures and promoting growth and profitability. He highlighted that the e-Games sector exceeded its P100 billion gross gaming revenue (GGR) target for 2024 by September. Previously, Pagcor collected over 50 percent of GGR, which discouraged expansion in the industry. Recent cuts, including a drop to 35 percent in April 2024, have fueled significant growth in the e-Games sector, a crucial driver of the local gaming industry. \ Tengco reported a surge in licensed e-Games operators, with 1,188 licenses issued in 2024, a 13.57 percent increase from 2023. The number of accredited gaming service providers also grew fivefold to 174. 'We expect this positive trend to continue,' Tengco concluded, projecting continued growth and expansion for the legal e-Games sector in the Philippines
