League Founder and CEO Manny Pacquiao tallied a triple-double as the South team routed the North squad, 114-63, on Saturday, Sept. 16, in the OKBet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season Executives game at the Bataan People's Center.
Getting better with age, Pacquiao posted 33 points, including 5 triples, 15 assists and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes and 39 seconds of play to better all his stats in last year's edition, where he drilled in a buzzer-beater triple to enable South to tie North, 107-107.
That time, Pacquiao had 30 points, including 4 triples, eight rebounds and four assists in a 37 minute, 30-second stint. There was no thriller this time as the South pulled away by the first quarter, 37-13, and padded the lead up to the final buzzer with Mermann Flores, Kaizer Galvez, Jojo Cunanan and Denzel Jeansen Wong joining the scoring fray.
Flores contributed 18 points and seven rebounds, Wong 13 points plus 10 rebounds and Galvez 12 points plus 10 rebounds. With Michael Jay Javelosa pulling down 22 rebounds and Marlou Aquino snagging 10, the South dominated the boards, 92-55. Don Dulay, coach of the Makati OKBet Kings, scored 15 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and issued six assists for the North, which also got 14 points from Alfonso Kaw and 13 points from Richard Rosales.
