CEBU CITY – A warning that fares for modern jeepneys would increase to as high as P40 once the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program is fully implemented is baseless, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-central Visayas said.
Gregory Perez, head of Piston-Cebu, said that the increase is needed to cover the loans that modern jeepney operators will have to avail to purchase modern PUVs. The LTFRB-7 assured the public that a process has to be followed before a fare increase is implemented.
