Philippine authorities intercepted a shipment of food products at the Port of Manila containing an estimated P2.64 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride. The drugs were hidden inside packaging of Kirkland Organic Dried Mango, originating from Pakistan and destined for a local trading company. Several individuals connected to the smuggling operation have been identified and will face legal proceedings.

GOVERNMENT operatives found an estimated P2.64 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride hidden in a shipment of food products at Port of Manila. Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said on Thursday that the cargo came from Pakistan, shipped by Ayan Enterprise/Trading and Logistics, and consigned to Redshinting Consumer Goods Trading.

Our agents discovered white crystalline substances concealed within the packaging of Kirkland Organic Dried Mango,' Rubio said.Of the 698 boxes inspected, 58 were found to contain 407 packs of suspected meth hidden inside.The narcotics weighing approximately 407 kilograms were valued at P2,645,500,000, at P6.5 million per kilogram.
