More than 48,000 outbound passengers were monitored in all ports nationwide a day before Christmas, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Saturday.
In an advisory, the PCG said it recorded 48,636 outbound passengers and 47,000 inbound passengers from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
At least 2,054 frontline personnel from 15 PCG districts inspected a total of 331 vessels and 535 motorbancas, the Coast Guard said. Coast Guard districts, stations, and sub-stations were placed on "heightened alert" to manage the influx of port passengers from December 15, 2022, to January 7, 2023. The passengers were advised to coordinate with the PCG through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs office at 0927-560-7729 for inquiries, concerns, and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during the holiday season. —
