The oddsmakers and plenty of CFL fans don't believe the Ottawa Redblacks have much of a chance against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Saturday.

The 4-1 Bombers are favoured to win by 9 1/2 points over the Redblacks, who have won just once in four games. There’s also this: The Bombers have Zach Collaros, the back-to-back CFL Most Outstanding Player, as their starting quarterback. Playing the position for the Redblacks will be Dustin Crum — in his second season, it’ll be his first start.

“If you’re intimidated, you don’t need to be out here,” said Redblacks defensive lineman Lorenzo Mauldin IV, who was the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2022. “They’re great players, but they can be beat. You have to play like you can beat the guy across from you. It doesn’t matter that it’s Winnipeg we’re playing. They’re just the next team we have to focus on. And they’re the next team we’re going to beat.

“We can’t turn the ball over,” Acklin said. “The mistakes are something we can fix. If you want to be a championship football team, you have to be consistent for four quarters. That’s what our standard needs to be.” Crum will be Ottawa’s fourth different starting quarterback in 2023 . He’s the 10th Redblacks quarterback to play in their past 41 games. Crum had 91 yards on six carries against Hamilton and the ability to use his legs to pick up yardage adds to the game plan.Redblacks QB Dustin Crum looks to cut out mistakes vs. Blue Bombers in first CFL start
