On Tuesday, a sergeant with the WPS professional standards branch told the hearing that the convoy protest had been described as a “very dangerous and very volatile situation” by Ottawa’s then-police chief, and that it was deemed an illegal activity. “Did you view the Windsor Police Service as your employer ?” asked defence lawyer Shane Miles. “No,” responded Brisco.
Although put on “unpaid leave” as of Nov. 26, 2021, Brisco’s lawyer said his client wanted to work as an officer but was forced off work due to the new policy implemented at the direction of the Windsor Police Services Board.
