There is universal alarm at the prospect of a “greedy and over-ambitious” Treasurer raiding Australians’ savings for his special projects, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

She said Treasurer Jim Chalmers flagging superannuation changes without specifying exactly what they are has allowed the Opposition to campaign against “every possible change”.

“Until the Prime Minister re-iterates that there will be no changes – none whatsoever; or until the government announces them – and even then, it will still be a broken promise – the Opposition can have a field day,” Ms Credlin said. “Taking pot-shots against any and every possible change, depending on what will most annoy the voters, the Liberals will now whip up against the government.

“I’m not sure the PM quite realises the damage his over-confident and under-expert Treasurer has just done to the government’s chances of re-election.”
