Dave Feschuk: Tiger Woods knows this Masters might be his last: ‘The joy is different now’
Such was Woods’s greatness that it wasn’t so long ago that the question was: How many more majors can he win? Now, with 15 majors to his name, the more realistic ask seems to be: How many more can he credibly play?
At one point he even suggested he was open to the once-unfathomable possibility of playing amongst the greybeards on the 50-and-over tour, where the pros jump into the driver’s seat of a golf cart. Said Woods: “I’m very lucky to have this leg; it’s mine. Yes, it had been altered and there’s some hardware in there, but it’s still mine ... The ability and endurance of what my leg will do going forward will never be the same, I understand that. That’s why I can’t prepare and play as many tournaments as I like. But that’s my future, and that’s OK.”
The only things Woods seemed sure about were matters out of his control. Asked whether or not his friend McIlroy will eventually complete the career grand slam by winning the green jacket, the only major that eludes him, Woods was unequivocal.
