The 8888 complaints received by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) could be substantially reduced if its old computers are discarded and replaced with new ones.
The bureau’s information technology officers and system analysts made the suggestion following criticism made by President Duterte in his State of the National Address that the BIR, along with four other government offices, was slow in responding to complaints sent by the public via Malacanang’s 8888 hotline and the Contact Center ng Bayan of the Civil Service Commission.
Most of the 8888 complaints center on the delay in the release of documents like certificate of registration and electronic certificate authorizing registration .
