THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has confirmed that a third batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have returned home from war-torn Sudan.
The OWWA confirmed this on their Facebook page on Monday night, showing photos of workers being welcomed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 1.The agency said 15 OFWs were repatriated from Sudan via Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and arrived in the country via Saudia Flight 870 at 9:47 p.m. on Monday.
Among the government officials who welcomed the returning Filipinos were Department of Migrant Workers Undersecretary Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones, DMW Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi, OWWA Deputy Administrator Mary Melanie Quino, Labor Attaché Marie Rose Escalada, and Department of Foreign Affairs Director Armand Dulay, along with representatives from the OWWA's airport team and a representative from the Department of Social Welfare and Development .
