Simultaneously, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is working to raise the spirits of displaced villagers in evacuation centers.

The Office of Civil Defense ( OCD ) is urging for effective 24-hour communication with local leaders in light of the ongoing unrest at Mount Kanlaon , currently at Alert Level 3 . Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development ( DSWD ) is working tirelessly to boost the morale of villagers temporarily residing in evacuation centers.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian has reiterated President Marcos' directive to provide high-quality and sustained disaster response to internally displaced families.Last week, OCD administrator Ariel Nepomuceno met with local government officials, including Canlaon City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas and Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, to discuss safety measures and the heightened risks associated with the volcano's activity. Nepomuceno emphasized the OCD's ongoing communication with local leaders since the December eruption, assuring daily monitoring and proper communication channels from evacuees to affected areas. He stressed the importance of proactivity and maintaining a high level of focus on safety and well-being, given the persistent threat in many areas.Nepomuceno also highlighted the OCD's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected individuals by addressing their needs. He acknowledged the emotional and practical challenges faced by displaced families and reaffirmed the national government's dedication to providing necessary support and resources. The OCD has already delivered substantial quantities of hygiene kits, tarpaulins, and house repair kits to evacuees in Canlaon City, La Castellana municipality, and La Carlota City. The OCD, as the implementing arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, expressed gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), and local government units (LGUs) for their unwavering support to the people of Negros during this state of calamity.DSWD Asst. Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao shared that they continue to conduct psycho-social activities in designated child-friendly and women-friendly spaces within evacuation centers to alleviate stress and anxiety among evacuees. According to the DSWD's Disaster Response Operations Management, Information Communication (DROMIC), a total of 12,286 families have been affected by the volcanic eruptions. Of these, 5,769 families have been directly displaced, while over 3,000 others are temporarily housed in 23 evacuation centers across Central and Western Visayas. Dumlao stated that their field offices in Western and Central Visayas have organized various activities, including arts and crafts, storytelling sessions, parenting dialogues, and mental health interventions, in collaboration with local and national government agencies and private organizations
