The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Monday night (June 8) refuted the claims of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa that it was the source of potentially lethal decontamination chemicals that claimed the life of a police doctor.
Citing a Manila Bulletin report, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Spokesperson Mark Timbal contradicted Gamboa’s remark that the OCD was the source of the chemicals used in a decontamination solution at a coronavirus disease facility at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City where Police Captain Casey Gutierrez died.
“The only services that were arranged by OCD are food catering, lodging for servicing personnel, provision of PPEs , hygiene kits, medical equipment and supplies, janitorial services, and waste collection and disposal,” he explained.Earlier in the day, Gamboa asked the National Bureau of Investigation to include the OCD in the investigation if it would acquire jurisdiction over the case. The PNP has already launched its own probe.“Everything in both PICC and Ultra are managed by the OCD.
