MANILA, Philippines — Two-time Filipino Olympian pole vaulter Ernest John 'EJ' Obiena on Wednesday called on netizens to stop comparing the private and family lives of fellow Olympian and two-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo and himself.In a statement on his social media platforms, Obiena said he wanted to stay silent on the issue but called the comparisons a 'sad state of affairs'.'I have hoped and tried to stay silent and not fuel anymore of the misleading stories.
He is a great champion for our country and I applaud him. I am proud of him. I am thankful for the glory he has brought to our country,' Obiena wrote.The world No. 3 pole vaulter also said he does not like commenting on his own and especially Yulo's private lives.'I don't comment on my private life and I certainly don't want outsiders commenting on it. That's why it's called 'Private life'. It's personal. It's nobody else's business.
