No new burns again as hazard remains mostly low throughout the area

With the fire hazard mostly low, there were again no new confirmed wildland burns in the Northeast Region by the end of day on Saturday, June 8, according to a news release by the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

There are now three wildland fires in the region, one fewer than the previous day. Cochrane 10 was a 2.5-hectare fire located roughly 40 kilometres west of Attawapiskat.Northeast Fire Region There were no new wildland fires confirmed by end of day on Saturday, June 8. There are currently three active wildland fires in the Northeast Fire Region.

The fire hazard is low across the Northeast Fire Region. Areas around Chapleau and Hearst are moderate to high.When waterbombers approach a body of water, move close to the shore so they can perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard. Be safe, stay clear of waterbombers.Flying drones around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal.
