There were two new wildland fires confirmed late evening on Friday, May 31, and there was 1 wildland fire confirmed by early evening on Saturday, June 1. There are currently 6 active wildland fires in the Northeast Fire Region. n and extreme for areas between Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Chapleau and Timmins, and around Temiskaming Shores. There are a few areas showing a moderate fire hazard, including the southeast portion of Manitoulin Island and areas south of Huntsville and Haliburton.When waterbombers approach a body of water, move close to the shore so they can perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard.
