Philippine military authorities in Eastern Visayas predict the New People's Army (NPA)'s strength will continue to decline after recovering a cache of high-powered firearms in Hindang, Leyte. The cache, consisting of an M60 machine gun, M16 rifle, and M14 rifle, was abandoned by surrendering NPA fighters. This success is attributed to the Philippine Army's programs encouraging CTG members to surrender and weaken the group's operational capabilities. The 802nd Infantry Brigade's Project Levox and the FReE Families Program have played key roles in this achievement.
