NOW Telecom Company Inc., the telecommunications affiliate of listed firm NOW Corp., said it would be filing a motion for reconsideration after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) junked its request to extend its authority to operate a nationwide mobile telecommunications system and declared its provisional authority 'inoperative.

Of the 2,306 base stations that NOW Telecom committed to build in its 2017 revised rollout plan, only six were reportedly constructed — all located in Metro Manila — and none were transmitting at the assigned frequency. The NTC also cited the company's failure to inject P1.9 billion in additional capital as required and its non-payment of regulatory fees amounting to more than P3.57 billion, including penalties.
