Northside Rising Coalition is hosting a story circle on Oct. 14 in Sydney Mines to gather residents around to tell stories of growing up on the northside. Contributedis hosting a community storytelling circle for Cape Bretoners to meet up and share stories in Sydney Mines on Oct. 14.
The event will provide a space for community members and visitors to share stories about food and harvesting while enjoying a free meal and music by local musicians.Northside Rising project lead Megan MacLeod said the company is excited to be partnering with Celtic Colours International Festival and be one of the community cultural events.
"It's a chance for visitors and community members to come together and share stories of hope and learn about the northside's unique history,” said MacLeod.Storytellers are lined up to share stories about growing up on the northside, growing food, special memories associated with food and stories of hope in a region that experiences pressing social challenges.
The event will also host vendors with local produce and food offerings from the northside and surrounding areas and a free meal of soup, roll and baked goods. All are welcome, including children, as the coalition will have a side room with activities for kids.Tours of the heritage museum and fossil centre will be available by donation.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
