The NorthPort Batang Pier secured a dominant victory against the Blackwater Bossing, while Robert Bolick's 40-point performance led the NLEX Road Warriors to a crucial win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
The NorthPort Batang Pier concluded their impressive elimination round campaign in the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a resounding 120-93 victory over the Blackwater Bossing on Saturday, January 25, at the Ynares Center. This win strengthened NorthPort's position for a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs, as they finished with a 9-3 win-loss record, temporarily securing the top spot in the standings.
The Batang Pier are now eagerly awaiting the outcome of the remaining games by the 7-3 teams (Meralco Bolts, Hong Kong Eastern, and TNT Tropang Giga). If one of these teams falters, NorthPort will officially clinch a top-two spot and the coveted twice-to-beat edge. Arvin Tolentino spearheaded NorthPort's victory with a triple-double performance, recording 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Import Kadeem Jack added 30 points, shooting an efficient 11-of-17 from the field. Joshua Munzon also contributed 21 points on an impressive 7-of-11 shooting clip. In the second game of the doubleheader, the NLEX Road Warriors secured a crucial 122-110 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, propelling them into a share of the eighth seed with a 5-6 record. Robert Bolick delivered a stellar performance, leading the Road Warriors with 40 points and 10 assists. This win injected renewed hope into their playoff aspirations.
