The Department of Transportation clarified that its newly implemented “no vaccine, no ride” policy is meant to protect the general public regardless of vaccination status, and not to discriminate the unvaccinated. | zacariansINQ
Citing the World Health Organization , the DOTr reiterated that “while Omicron causes less severe disease than Delta, it remains a dangerous virus, particularly for those who are unvaccinated.
“And this affects not only the business owners but people who will lose their job and all those who depend on them, it added,” it added.ADVERTISEMENTThe department then addressed those questioning the legal basis of the policy by pointing to the resolution issued by the Metro Manila Council last week on the guidelines for unvaccinated individuals which prohibited unvaccinated individuals from boarding public transport.
The transportation regulator then clarified that unvaccinated individuals can still travel by using other means aside from public transport as there is no directive in prohibiting travel in general for the unvaccinated.
