ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro warns the Marcos administration about the supposed dangers of "regionalistic patronage appointments".House Deputy Minority leader and ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro has warned President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. against dabbling into what she described as "regionalistic patronage appointment".

Castro had this to say following the appointment of Benjamin Acorda Jr. as the new Philippine National Police chief. "I hope that this would not be another regionalistic patronage appointment," the Makabayan solon said, noting the Marcos Jr.'s father, the late former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.; and his director predecessor, former president Rodrigo Duterte, had done this.

"Such an appointment creates more division and animosity among officers and often times result in squabblings in the ranks. This also leads to human rights violations to impress their commander in chief to get a better chance of being promoted," Castro said. Acorda hails from Ilocos Norte in northern Philippines, which is the political bailiwick of the Marcoses.
